Ranking peace – and terror

Global Peace Index
Australia (Sydney)

If there’s one political topic that has dominated our collective social consciousness in the last decade, it’s terrorism. Terrorism and its partner-in-crime – peace – are the go to topics for most social media politics arguments.

In an effort to stigmatise opponents, countries gleefully label enemy nations as “sponsors of global terror”. The label is purposely vague, as greater leverage over the domestic electorate is possible when one does not have the ability to scrutinise the vilification. But what if there was a way to measure the degree to which nations contribute to peace and terror in the world?

The Global Peace Index is an important project as it aims to quantify the degree to which nations contribute to world peace. It aims to free the discourse of peace and terror from its politically dirty confines and instead allow for an objective discussion of the state of the world.
