The mastectomy pirate patch

Anna Bonny
Catalonia (Barcelona)

Noelia Morales wants to help evolve how society perceives breast cancer, femininity and beauty. Born out of personal necessity, her first design is a mastectomy ‘patch’.

Inspired by eyepatches to create an empowering lingerie line for women who choose to “go flat”, she called it Anna Bonny after the female Irish pirate.

Available in in silk, lace and with jewels, the handmade garments help women come to peace with their new body image, gain confidence and normalise living with one breast.

“The simple, unique piece of lingerie is an adornment, a celebration of acceptance and a new option post-mastectomy,” she explains.

The non-invasive alternative to reconstruction is designed for intimate moments in which “you need or enjoy being naked”. It’s really very sexy… ooh arr.

The pattern is downloadable and the team are working on a series of complementary products which aim to improve quality of life of women affected by breast cancer.
